The Great Trials
Learn about the severe tests Ibrahim faced for his faith - from being thrown into fire to the command to sacrifice his son - and how his unwavering trust in Allah made him a model for all believers.
What You'll Learn
Challenging the Idols
Ibrahim's mission to guide his people away from idol worship led to a dramatic confrontation. During a festival when the townspeople left their temple, Ibrahim entered and destroyed all the idols except the largest one, leaving the axe hung around its neck. When the people returned and demanded to know who had done this, Ibrahim challenged them to ask the big idol if it could speak. This exposed the absurdity of worshipping lifeless statues.
Key Point
Ibrahim used wisdom and logic to demonstrate the powerlessness of idols, challenging his people to think critically about their beliefs.

| Family Opposition | Father threatened to stone him | Prayed for his father and left peacefully | Maintained family ties while upholding truth |

Lesson for Us
When Ibrahim was thrown into the fire, the angel Jibreel came and asked if he needed anything. Ibrahim replied, 'From you, no. From Allah, He knows my situation.' This teaches us that in times of difficulty, our first recourse should always be to Allah alone.
The Family of Prophet Ibrahim

The Phrase of Tawakkul
When Ibrahim was thrown into the fire, he said: 'Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel' (Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs). This same phrase was used by the Prophet Muhammad and his companions when facing great danger at the Battle of Uhud.
